Beach detecting

editorial87

A great way to get into the hobby of metal detecting without having to look for sites is to try your hand at beach detecting

The Dorset coast offers lots of locations and you don't need any special equipment

Most modern detectors will easily cope with dry sand. Wet sand however often causes issues with false signals and interference

Instead of a spade, you will get on better with a sand scoop which is basically a posh sieve

Some local councils state that permission is required to detect on their beaches so make sure you check first
